Can anyone tell me if it can convert to formats like AAC or MP3 on sync to my card This is useful because then I dont have to maintain separate libraries in order to save space. I can only assume that my desired workflow is not the one it's optimised for. Location: Madison, WI Im thinking about purchasing the Linux version of this software, specifically for music management and transfer of files onto my microSD card. ![]() CD found, track selected, pulse audio restarted for the 3rd time today and it plays and is gapless, but the UI is not responsive and I cannot see a justification for the price. Fixed: Switching between audio files with different channel configuration could result in channels being dropped under special circumstances. ![]() Sure Jriver gives a pretty album cover view, but when you have a decent size library you really don't browse that way. Suddenly gmpc doesn't seem so clanky after all. Now to try finding and playing a few tracks. Mpd rescans the whole server in under 5 minutes. However, I was keen to try it inside JRiver Media Center so I downloaded the free trial version of the latter, and had little trouble in setting it up to. 5 hours later it had finished the import. Getting it running has been a challenge as it wants to completely wreck Pulse audio every few minutes, but finally wrestled that to the ground and tried to import one directory to test. Niggle 2 is that gmpc is a little limited in the search capabilities and not particularly user friendly. Before you continue, make sure that JRiver Media Center is installed and you can play music using the default Windows sound card and the PC speakers. I miss the days when classical CDs used the index function and CD players supported it! 98% of the time this isn't an issue, but a few CDs just have to have it to not sound wrong. Changed: The option 'Crop Sides of Video to Fill Screen' in the Crop Black Bars context menu has been removed, use 'Crop' aspect ratio mode instead. Niggle 1 is that whatever I try I cannot get mpd to do gapless play. NEW: Consolidated all aspect ratio settings in the JRVR Output -> General settings, allowing per-device and profile-based configuration. I bought dBpoweramp CD ripper and it is one of the best audio software purchases I have made (the other would be JRiver Media Center for digital playback). As this is effectively a dedicated media machine I thought I would have a go at sorting the niggles I have with the current setup for playing digital files on the main system using mpd. The reason I tried it was that I have just installed ubuntu on a laptop for some general purpose duties since the BBC decided to depricate iPlayer support for my TV and was fed up losing mine whenever we wanted to watch something online. It does fix one problem, but doesn't seem to immediately justify its cost. ![]() I've just tried Jriver media centre to see if it would solve some issues I have and TBH underwhelmed. Jriver has released v22 and in my setup it really sounds good. Rather than start a new thread thought would wake this one up. With no EQ applied to either JR seems to roll off highs and therefore sounds more laid.
